Lots going on in Hot Feet world so lets start with volleyball.

Dragons volleyball came out of the gate strong generating a lot of interest and will help over 50 girls enjoy the game. We have 5 teams for the 2020 season
17U Scorch – Coach Kayla Uhlenhake
15U Torch – Coach Emily Hanson, Nicole Latta
15U Blaze – Coach Ashley Prusha
15U Toast – Coach Adam Cannon, Brandie Gross
13U Roast – Coach Madison Slay

Meet our director Kayla Uhlenhake – (Broghammer)
Grew up in a strong volleyball community. Started all 4 years on varsity in HS. Player of the year my senior year in my conference. Played for Milwaukee Sting VBC growing up. Started all 4 years as a setter at Winona State University. Started coaching young, as I helped with youth camps in High school, Have been coaching club teams ranging from 12s to 17’s since my senior year in HS. Coach the varsity boys volleyball team for one year (between undergrad and grad school), which ended up in a 3rd place finish at the WI state tournament. Have coached club the last couple years here in Iowa.

Our uniforms mocks look great and we are on our way to 6 events in the spring for each team. The season will hopefully conclude with a strong showing at the Iowa Regionals in Des Moines. The 3am training nights has been worth it to learn all of the procedures needed to run an organization. It is even more worth it when we see the smiles. Big thanks to our resident artist in training Coach Madi for updating the logo with the volleyball theme.

Dragons Breath V7

Lots has changed and things are very exciting going forward. Here is the skinny.

Hot Feet Sports going forward really does mean Hot Feet Sports. We are the organizers and coordinators for your sports team needs. The Hot Feet team will do all of your setup and coordination. We will find a coach if one is needed and we will provide guidance and support to the team as needed. We will handle team finances and fees collection and payments for events, insurance, uniforms, and all of the administrative duties like rules and certifications it takes to run a team. Hot Feet will get that done. We also have a home in Cosgrove at the Cosgrove Institute that gives us many options from teaching to gym space and field space.

What we ask is that your team be great competitors and sports people. Spread the light and joy of sport through the events that we play and compete to our highest level possible. So with that said lets introduce all of what we have going on so far.

Hot Feet Fire Dragons Basketball #DragonBallerZ
We have 2 basketball teams 13U and 11U Boys. This is just the beginning of lots of round ball fun for boys and girls in the area.

Hot Feet Fire Dragons Volleyball #FireBallers
The Volleyball program is also in the beginning of it’s processes. These squads will be a lot of fun to watch grow.

The Dragons Breath V6

Hello Fire Dragons 7v7 Football Family! We are nearing July, and what would normally be the meat of our season, but with covid, things have changed. I have updates for everyone on events and reminders about how we are proceeding. Any questions, please shoot us an email or facebook message, tweet, instagram, and you can also just use the phone and text.

Events

The remaining events for this season are listed below. Please inform your coach as soon as possible if you can not make any of them. For the Nebraska event in July, and Wisconsin event in August, it is critical that we know as soon as possible so that we can decide to enter or not enter. If we do not have enough players, then we will not take a team to these events.

Playmaker 7v7 Fireball Frenzy
July 12 th, Coralville IA
Lots of teams coming in all divisions that have not been to coralville yet

Playmaker 7v7 Iowa Elite
July 19th, Coralville IA

Nebraska Elite Purge to Play
July 25th, Omaha Nebraska

NYFO Green Bay AIR Raid
August 16th Ledgeview Park, DePere Wi

What I need help with from all of our parents, is to communicate with your coaches for each of these events so that we know how many players we have for none, 1 or 2 teams for our divisions. I also need help, in that, if you have a helmet please ask your child to wear it because, although optional this year, it would be great to set the standard.

Dragons are growing

We have been doing some great practices and hope that we are able take our game to the next levels. I know the Scorch 7-8 squad now understand what timing is for throwing the ball and how to fire the ball hard on slant and out routes so that they don’t get picked off. I have seen many of the 5-6th grade Burn and Blaze teams out working on throws. Torch and Roast 3-4th grade kid squads have not stopped putting in work out there with their teams. Lastly the Inferno squad is an interesting thing because we are lucky enough to feature kids from Linn-Mar, CCA, Cr Prairie, Mount Vernon, Burlington, Iowa City High, CR Xavier, Davenport North, and Benton. Our program is growing and causing other people in other places to share our passion. Thank you for Joining the Journey.

The Dragons Breath V5.0

With lockdown coming to an end and we start looking for ways to move forward as a fire dragons 7v7 team we have some things to consider as adjustments to what we are doing. We have also added our covid waiver which is based on the USSSA waiver that they modified from Saddler Insurance and I have results from our Return to play guidelines. Uniforms will be given to coaches then provided to players.

Return to play

Youth Sport Have been allowed by the governor. I have spoken with Tiffin and we are allowed to use soccer fields to have small group practices before the June 1st and regular practices after the first. The plan is for coaches to plan a weekday practice and a sunday practice coaches will be reaching out to get organized. We will not have whole club practices this year so teams will practice at the fields based on how they are scheduled.

Please make it clear by thursday May 28th if you are choosing not to play this summer so that we can coordinate teams.

Great things happening for the Dragons so lets get to all the fun.
Get your head gear from gamebreaker with our custom design

Inferno squad high school team is working hard on their way to being prepared for Pylon Indianapolis. The team is made up of high school players from Clear Creek, CR Prairie, CR Xavier Linn Mar, Davenport North, Mount Vernon, Benton, and Iowa City High. we are excited to get things rolling with our high school travel program with this gang. It will be a challenging season as they will be out there battling some of the best teams in the country and they will take their lumps. However, there is nothing more true than the statement you can’t be the best unless you beat the best. So let’s face it you can’t beat the best if you don’t go to where they play. This group and coach Corey Schlemme have done an awesome job of learning more about the game and have had 2 successful scrimmages.

Local Squad parent meeting
The local squads had parent meeting today at the middle school football field. There was a lot of energy and a lot of great questions. Those questions and answers will be added to the parent information page for all parents. To learn more about events that we will play in go to www.playmaker7v7.com where the events are listed that are in the state of Iowa.

Head Gear
If you choose to get the custom headgear option we will order those from Game Breaker by next saturday so please have orders in. For the headgear as soon as possible. If you choose to get other options you can look at this link that would provide options from WalMart and Amazon

The Dragons Breath News 2/2020

Hello Fire Dragons Family. We have plenty to be excited about and lots of news so lets get to it. High School Inferno Squad is complete with 16 members. I will post the roster tomorrow and fully announce the team that will travel to Indianapolis, Rockford, Omaha and Nebraska. We will have plenty of adversity ahead of that team but I am positive coach Schlemme will have them ready. Coach Schlemme is assisted by Coach Meek who is doing double duty to be the defensive expert.

Dragons Local High School Squad – With the travel squads in a good place we can start focusing on March 8th the date of the parent meeting, 3pm at the cca middle school field. We have plenty of opportunity to play local squads this year in some week day scrimmages and then get ready to beat down our competition in the events. At this point we have a coach for at least one team for each division with a coach. 3-4, 5-6, 7-8. We do not have a coach for the local high school squad but we should have that figured out in a bit. If we have 18 Kids we will split at that point into 2 teams.

Coach Meek has been working out on sundays with some of the younger boys. The sessions have been fun. If you would like to join them please let us know on the facebook page.

Soft Helmets are required for this season if you would like a dragons custom soft helmet I will announce these at the Parents meeting but I have a picture for you and a link to Game Breaker. You are not required to go with that brand. There are other cost effective brands that are available like Champro and I will have links to those as well.

Travel Squad will not practice Sunday Feb 2 2020

We have had an awesome start to our travel squad program. Lots and lots of energy. It has been fun seeing all of the inferno squad posts. Rising squad full team is still a work in progress but we have a strong base of kids. Just need 4 more 7-8th graders to complete the group.
Uniforms are designed and ready for this group and we are entered into the Pylon Indianapolis. Remember we are there to play ball not trash. Talk with our plays not with our mouths.
No practice on Feb 2nd #roastem

Local squad uniform designs are set. Registration forms are available. Also we are excited about working with programs from the quad cities and Iowa city to build this thing up in iowa. #7v7 football. Even more exciting is the red zone razors 7v7 which is being built by Tyler Blum. Coach Blum does an amazing job so we are looking forward to matching up with those guys for years to come.
